Hey there, fellow adventurers in faith!
Today, let’s dive into one of the most exhilarating and life-changing missions that believers have been entrusted with: spreading the good news of the Gospel. Yep, you heard me right–we’re not just called to keep this incredible message to ourselves; we’re commissioned to share it with the world. So, grab a seat and let’s unpack Matthew 28:19-20, where Jesus lays it all out for us: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
Now, before you start feeling overwhelmed or wondering if this task is even possible, let me reassure you: you’re not alone in this. Jesus didn’t just hand us a mission and then leave us to figure it out on our own. Nope, he promised to be with us every step of the way, until the very end of the age. How’s that for some good news?
So, let’s break it down a bit.
First off, we’re called to go–not just to sit back and wait for people to come to us. But we are to go out actively into the world and share the message of salvation. And here’s the thing: we don’t have to travel to the ends of the earth to do it (although if you feel called to do so, more power to you!). Nope, we can start right where we are, in our own communities, workplaces, and social circles.
But what exactly is the Gospel?
Well, it’s simple, really: the gospel is the message of hope, love, and redemption found in Jesus Christ. It’s the story of how God became flesh and dwelt among us, how he lived a perfect life, died a sacrificial death, and rose again victorious over sin and death. It’s the greatest story ever told, and we get to be a part of it!
But here’s the kicker: it’s not just about getting people to say a quick prayer and then calling it a day. Nope, it’s about developing disciples – people who follow Jesus, devote themselves to maturing in their faith, strengthening their connection with God, and proclaiming the good news to others. It’s a lifelong journey of transformation and adventure, and we get to be tour guides along the way.
Baptism isn’t just some outdated ritual.
It’s a powerful symbol of new life and rebirth in Christ. It’s a public declaration of our faith and a tangible reminder of God’s grace and mercy poured out on us. If you’ve never been baptized, I encourage you to consider taking that step of faith. It’s a decision you won’t regret!
Making disciples isn’t just about sharing head knowledge or spouting off religious jargon. It’s about teaching them to obey everything Jesus commanded us. It’s about living out our faith in a way that’s authentic and compelling. We show the world what it looks like to follow Jesus with our whole hearts.
But we’re not perfect, and we’re bound to mess up along the way. We’re going to stumble and fall, say the wrong thing, and make a complete mess of things at times. But here’s the beauty of it: God can use even our biggest blunders for his glory. He’s not looking for perfect people; he’s looking for willing hearts.
So, my friends,
Let’s embrace the Great Commission with open hearts and willing spirits. Let’s go out into the world and share the hope, love, and grace of Jesus with everyone we meet. And let’s remember that we’re not alone in this–Jesus is with us every step of the way. He empowers us to be his hands and feet in a broken and hurting world. Here’s to the grand adventure of spreading the Gospel. May we go forth with courage, compassion, and joy, knowing that we serve a God who can do immeasurably more than we could ever ask or imagine.
With love and blessings,
Brian
